Position Description
Position Title: Construction Superintendent
Reports To: Vice President of Construction Operations
Position Summary
The Construction Superintendent provides on-site leadership, technical management, and strategic planning necessary to successfully complete large-scale construction projects. These projects typically involve extended durations and require comprehensive oversight to meet design specifications, budget parameters, and schedule objectives.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Assume full responsibility for the construction process, ensuring that projects are executed in alignment with design, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact, interfacing with client representatives, contractors, and project coordinators.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site activities to achieve project goals.
- Direct and oversee the work of employees and contractors as stipulated by the contract.
- Provide expertise in interpreting drawings, recommending construction methods, and advising on equipment usage.
- Enforce adherence to project procedures, safety protocols, and company policies. Document violations and collaborate with the Construction Manager to implement corrective actions.
- Develop, maintain, and execute detailed project schedules, including manpower, equipment, tools, rentals, and materials.
- Maintain accurate daily job logs and project records.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, if required.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and assignments as necessary to support project success.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience, preferably in leadership roles.
- Construction experience in retail, grocery, church, car wash, healthcare, and office settings is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Solid mathematical skills for project planning and problem-solving.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- OSHA-30 Certification, desired.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record (subject to MVR background check).
