Habitat for Humanity of Dane County is looking for a Site Superintendent (Float) to join our Construction Team — someone who can jump in wherever needed, from framing and finish work to mentoring volunteers and keeping job sites running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

Every week will look a little different — one day you might be leading volunteers on a framing project, and the next you could be helping organize our warehouse or supporting a home repair. You’ll play a key role in keeping our build sites and crews on track across Dane County.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead and support residential construction, home repair, and warranty projects.
  • Supervise and train volunteers, teaching both skilled and unskilled workers.
  • Oversee warehouse organization, tools, and materials to keep the construction team supplied.
  • Ensure job sites are safe, clean, and compliant with all building and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, city inspectors, and Habitat staff to meet deadlines.
  • Step in as needed to support projects across multiple sites.

Requirements:

You’re the kind of builder who loves variety and values teamwork. You take pride in quality craftsmanship, stay calm under pressure, and enjoy mentoring others on the job site. You are organized and can easily pivot when the plan changes.


We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has 2–3 years of hands-on residential construction experience, including framing and finish work.
  • Knows how to read house plans, plan ahead, and solve on-site challenges.
  • Is a strong communicator who can lead volunteers and work well with others.
  • Is motivated to learn and elevate their project management skill set
  • Enjoys a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key.
  • Takes safety seriously and keeps worksites organized and professional.
  • Shares our values of hard work, integrity, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Experience supervising crews or volunteers .
  • Experience operating box trucks or trailers is a plus.
  • Warehouse or logistics experience helpful.
