Construction Services Representative


JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Great River Engineering (GRE) is looking for a Construction Representative. Typical projects are civil engineering public infrastructure projects for cities, counties, state agencies, and private developers. Example projects are bridges, site development, water/sewer, roadways and sidewalks. Under general supervision, you will provide on-site representation support on projects to check construction compliance with plans, specifications and contract documents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities will include but are not be limited to the following:


  • Read and interpret plans, details, specifications, and other contract documents. Recognize and report noted deviations from the contract documents.
  • Provide accurate and thorough daily inspection reports and photo documentation.
  • Perform field materials sampling and testing that includes tests for: concrete slump and air content, concrete compressive specimens, compaction, moisture, and aggregate gradation.
  • Review and approve contractors application for payment and change orders including measuring and calculating quantities.
  • Check layout and dimensions of work by utilizing tools and instruments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally in a construction job site environment but occasionally will perform office work.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible and some late evenings and/or weekends may be required.

TRAVEL

Travel is expected and will generally be within a four-hour radius of assigned office. Company vehicle use or personal mileage reimbursement will be provided.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Familiarity with construction principles and/or civil engineering processes and practices

REQUIREMENTS

  • MoDOT Technician Certification or similar
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Experience with land surveying practices
