Construction Safety Director – Baltimore/DC Metro
Direct COO Report | Local Travel Only
Kimball Construction, a 55-year established Mid-Atlantic general contractor, is hiring a Construction Safety Director to lead safety excellence across $2M+ government and commercial projects in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, and Delaware. This is a strategic leadership role with direct COO reporting and full budget authority.
What You’ll Do
- Lead in the field: Spend 3–4 days per week at active sites conducting inspections, audits, and coaching superintendents, PMs, and trades.
- Shape culture: Build Kimball’s “I Own My Safety” mindset through trust-based partnerships.
- Prevent incidents: Use data, leading indicators, and predictive tools to drive proactive safety.
- Innovate: Adapt best practices from other industries and implement digital safety platforms.
- Develop talent: Deliver training, mentorship, and behavior-based safety programs.
- Influence at the top: Present safety performance and risk strategy to executive leadership and major clients.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years construction safety leadership experience (3+ for exceptional candidates).
- OSHA 500 & 510 Outreach Trainer.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Proven ability to influence and coach at all organizational levels.
- Valid driver’s license, clean record, background check, and US Citizenship.
- CHST or CSP certification (or actively pursuing).
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction, or related field.
- Experience with predictive safety analytics and digital safety management platforms.
