Position Summary
A. Pappajohn Company (APC) is seeking an experienced Construction Project Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects. This role requires demonstrated ground-up construction experience — from site mobilization and foundations through structural completion, envelope, MEP coordination, and closeout — on projects of comparable scope and complexity. The Superintendent is APC's on-site leader, responsible for schedule, safety, quality, and subcontractor coordination from mobilization through project turnover.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, direct, and supervise all on-site construction activities from ground-up mobilization through project closeout.
• Develop and maintain the project schedule; sequence trades and coordinate subcontractors to keep work on pace and within budget.
• Enforce jobsite safety programs and OSHA compliance; lead toolbox talks and site safety inspections.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager on procurement, RFIs, submittals, and change order impacts to schedule and field logistics.
• Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work conforms to contract documents, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
• Manage subcontractor performance, site logistics, material deliveries, and equipment needs throughout each phase of construction.
• Maintain daily field reports, progress photos, and manpower logs; escalate risks or delays proactively.
• Lead weekly OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) and subcontractor coordination meetings as required.
• Support punch list, commissioning, and turnover activities to achieve on-time, on-budget project completion.
Qualifications
• Minimum 7–10 years of construction supervision experience, with required ground-up construction experience (foundation/structure through completion) on commercial, institutional, or similar projects.
• Proven ability to run multiple trades and subcontractors concurrently in a fast-paced field environment.
• Strong working knowledge of building codes, safety regulations (OSHA 30 ), and quality standards.
• Experience with construction software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, or similar) and daily field reporting tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to make sound decisions under field pressure.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• OSHA 10/30 certification required; First Aid/CPR certification a plus.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites across Connecticut/New York.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.
• Ability to climb ladders/stairs, walk uneven terrain, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
