Job Description
Company Overview
At Sea & Shoreline, we restore and protect Florida’s aquatic ecosystems. From seagrass and shoreline restoration to habitat construction and environmental dredging, our projects heal waters, rebuild habitats, and strengthen coastal communities.
We’re driven by a shared mission—to leave Florida’s waterways better than we found them. Our team’s passion for sustainability and precision shows in every anchor we set, every cage we clean, and every plant we put back into the water.
Job Overview
We’re looking for a hands-on Project Manager to lead marine construction and restoration projects. Think of this role as the connective tissue between permitting, engineering, field execution, and client success. You’ll lead by presence—not from an office chair, but boots-wet and hands-on.
This is project delivery meets ecosystem restoration: planning, scheduling, budgeting, and guiding teams that bring habitats back to life. From seagrass and shoreline restoration to complex permitting and site coordination, you’ll manage dynamic, field-based work with clarity, structure, and heart.
This isn’t vertical construction—it’s environmental infrastructure. Civil or environmental engineering experience is highly relevant, especially if paired with comfort around water, regulatory frameworks, and marine-based fieldwork.
Location and Travel
This is a field-based role that may require travel to project sites across Florida. Expect to be in the field several days a week with occasional overnight stays. Mileage, travel, and per diem are covered. Bring a reliable vehicle and a ready-to-roll mindset.
Physical Requirements
This is not a desk job. You’ll work outdoors—in the heat, humidity, rain, and sunshine—around water, construction equipment, and boats. You should be able to:
- Lift up to 60 lbs and stay active through long days
- Navigate construction and marine environments safely
- Be confident around boats, barges, and heavy equipment
- Know your way around OSHA rules and safety practices
- Know how to tie a bowline
What You Do
Lead Marine & Restoration Projects
- Own every detail that drives success—scheduling, budgeting, permitting, change orders, invoices, and client communication. You keep all the moving parts aligned so the team can focus on doing great work.
- Treat each project as a reflection of our reputation—how we plan, communicate, and execute shapes how partners, clients, and communities see Sea & Shoreline.
- Collaborate with our partners and clients to benefit their goals.
- Become a part of the community in which you live and work.
Connect Construction & Biology
- Lead cross-functional crews with clarity and respect—aligning goals, sharing knowledge, and keeping fieldwork running smoothly.
- Turn restoration objectives into actionable, field-ready plans that empower team leads to take ownership, solve problems, and deliver work that makes everyone proud.
Be Present Where It Matters
- You know that showing up and staying—on-site, in the water, and alongside the team—builds trust and momentum. That face time helps you spot issues early, strengthen partnerships, and keep everyone working toward shared goals.
- Safety isn’t paperwork here—it’s personal. Our reputation depends on job sites that are safe, supported, and informed. You model that through your actions every day.
Champion Systems & Structure
- Utilize tools like Procore to track progress, streamline reporting, and close knowledge gaps.
- Collaborate with teams to refine how we plan, communicate, and deliver—so systems help people, not hinder them.
Mentor & Empower
- Culture shows up in the small things—the tone in a meeting, the follow-through after feedback, the way people are treated when things get hard. This is known to the team.
- You build teams that deliver with pride—empowering, trusting, and developing crew leads while holding the bar high for quality, safety, and accountability.
Who You Are
- Guardian Mindset: You protect the integrity of the organization—its quality, safety, and reputation—with quiet confidence. You think ahead, act intentionally, and make decisions that reflect pride in the mission and respect for the team behind it.
- Respond with Purpose: When challenges pop up, you don’t wait to see how they play out—you bring people together to solve them. You’re decisive but collaborative, channeling urgency without chaos, and keeping the focus on progress, not blame.
- Plan For & Beyond the Horizon: You stay ahead of the tide—whether it’s weather, logistics, people, or technology—spotting what’s coming before it hits. You zoom out to chart the course and zoom in to get hands-on, adapting quickly to keep projects steady when conditions change.
- Educated & Experienced: With a degree in construction management, marine science, or civil/environmental engineering—or the kind of field-tested experience that earns respect—you blend technical know-how with hands-on practicality.
- Water-Meets-Engineer: SCUBA-certified and field-tested, you understand how ecosystems, engineering, and people intersect—and you thrive in the middle of that mix. You make tools like Procore and Excel work for people, not the other way around—streamlining systems so the team can focus on results.
- Lead & Communicate with Clarity: You know when to push, when to listen, and when to clear the path—and you do it with calm confidence. You turn complex issues into clear direction, guide tough conversations with composure, and know when to block, tackle, or cheer to keep the team moving forward.
Bonus Points
- PMP / CCM / OSHA 30 / SCUBA certs.
- Procore super user
- Experience coaching cross-disciplinary field teams.
- Familiarity with working in wetlands.
- Experience with heavy equipment or marine-based logistics
- Experience mentoring junior PMs or implementing operational change across teams
What We Provide
- Competitive pay.
- Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Paid Time Off (PTO), holidays, and insurance.
- Professional development and training opportunities.
At Sea & Shoreline, we value the contributions of every team member and are dedicated to supporting your professional and personal growth.
