Role Mission
To support the successful delivery of assigned construction projects by coordinating documents, communication, procurement tracking, cost and schedule reporting, and administrative project controls from preconstruction through closeout. The Project Engineer helps the project team “Build It Better” by ensuring information is accurate, timely, organized, and actionable so field and office teams can execute efficiently and deliver a high-quality experience for the owner.
Role Responsibilities
General Duties:
- Support the Project Manager and field teams in the coordination and execution of assigned projects.
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, transmittals, meeting notes, and closeout records.
- Assist with procurement tracking, subcontractor communication, and material status updates.
- Coordinate information flow between owners, architects, subcontractors, vendors, field supervision, and office staff.
- Help monitor project costs, schedule progress, and change management items.
- Support project closeout by tracking punch lists, warranties, as-builts, and final document turnover.
Daily Responsibilities
- Review and distribute project documents, drawings, specifications, and correspondence to the appropriate team members.
- Track open RFIs, submittals, change requests, procurement items, and action items to keep projects moving.
- Communicate with field supervision, subcontractors, vendors, and internal staff to verify current project status and needs.
- Update logs and reporting tools to ensure project information remains accurate and accessible.
Weekly Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and updating project cost reports, schedule updates, and status summaries for internal review.
- Attend coordination meetings and document key decisions, risks, follow-up items, and responsibilities.
- Review procurement and subcontractor status with the project team to identify potential delays or support needs.
Monthly Responsibilities
- Support monthly billing preparation by organizing backup documentation, tracking percent complete, and maintaining change order records.
- Assist with document audits to verify compliance with contracts, plans, specifications, and administrative procedures.
- Review project logs and reporting for accuracy, completeness, and follow-through.
- Help prepare closeout documentation and forecast upcoming administrative milestones.
Quarterly Responsibilities
- Participate in project reviews to evaluate schedule performance, cost trends, documentation quality, and process improvement opportunities.
- Identify recurring coordination issues and recommend process improvements that support more efficient project delivery.
Ad-Hoc Responsibilities
- Respond to urgent documentation, procurement, or coordination issues as they arise.
- Assist with onboarding new project team members to project systems, files, and reporting expectations.
- Provide additional administrative and coordination support during peak project demands or special assignments.
