Wells Global is hiring a Construction Project Manager with Electrical Experience passionate about working with a team to get the job done in a way that the client asks to work with you again.
What does this mean for you?
This position based in our Raleigh, NC office is responsible for projects across the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other U.S. territories. Travel is required to project locations for meetings and site inspections with client and field personnel, approximately monthly and more often during critical periods of construction. The individual will be responsible for managing multiple simultaneous projects involving electrical power system installations and associated construction.
Specific responsibilities include:
Project Planning:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, submittals, and resource allocation.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in consultation with clients and stakeholders. Provide input for bid solicitation and proposal development.
Team Leadership:
- Manage a cross-functional project team, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Provide clear direction, set performance expectations, and monitor team progress.
Client Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for offsite client representatives and maintain strong client relationships.
- Ensure regular communication with clients to provide project updates and address concerns.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage project cost estimates and budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial goals.
- Review and approve invoices, prepare schedule of value billings, track expenses and report financial status to senior management.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Proactively address issues that may impact project scope, timeline, or budget.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that installations meet standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks throughout the project lifecycle.
Schedule Management:
- Monitor project timelines and make necessary adjustments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
Permitting and Compliance:
- Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained for projects.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, guidelines, and safety standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Coordinate and maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, excess equipment and materials disposition, progress reports, and project closeout documentation.
- Generate regular status reports for clients and senior management.
Resource Allocation:
- Allocate resources efficiently to meet project requirements.
- Identify resource gaps and coordinate with supervisions to fill them.
Conflict Resolution:
- Address conflicts and issues within the project team and with external stakeholders.
- Facilitate productive solutions and maintain a positive working environment.
Health and Safety:
- Promote and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
- Prepare project safety plans and conduct safety audits in cooperation with Safety Manager and promote a culture of safety within the team.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Conduct post-event and post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned.
Technology Integration:
- Explore and integrate new technologies and tools to improve project efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in critical power systems.
Skills/Qualifications
- Preferably a BSEE or other engineering degree or equivalent combination of advanced project management training with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.
- Previous experience working as a Project Manager planning and supervising the construction of power systems.
- Previous Federal contract experience .
- Familiarity and working knowledge of UL, NEMA, OSHA and NEC standards.
- Ability to pass a federal background check.
- Ability to travel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate, supervise and manage project teams.
- Ability to make independent decisions in planning, organizing, and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.
