Job Description

Construction Project Manager-Lead Large-Scale Industrial Projects with Ownership & Impact at a Century-Old Employee-Owned Firm

The Opportunity

With over 100 years of excellence our multi-disciplinary firm stands as a highly respected leader in integrated architecture, engineering, and construction. Headquartered in Chicago's vibrant West Loop-with offices in New York, Raleigh, and Warsaw, Poland-we deliver innovative, sustainable solutions for complex projects across the Americas and Europe.

We specialize in "best-in-class" creative outcomes for industrial, manufacturing, commercial, aviation, food processing, hospitality, and more-emphasizing green initiatives, community service, and healthy, enduring environments.

As a 100% employee-owned company, your success is our success: every decision you make contributes directly to shared prosperity. If you're a proven Construction Project Manager with deep industrial/manufacturing experience who's ready for real leadership authority, travel opportunities, client-facing impact, and the chance to mentor talent in a collaborative, values-driven culture-we want to talk. Design-build background is a strong plus; periodic U.S. travel (about 10%) is required for on-site oversight of landmark builds.

The Role: Full Ownership from Concept to Closeout

You'll provide strategic direction and hands-on control for high-profile construction projects-overseeing teams, driving quality, managing multimillion-dollar budgets/schedules, and exceeding client expectations end-to-end.

  • Lead with Vision: Set project goals, align teams across disciplines, and foster synergistic collaboration to deliver exceptional results.
  • Own the Financials & Progress: Establish/monitor costs, schedules, and reporting; prepare client/senior management updates on progress, variances, and ROI.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Serve as the primary client interface; promote and nurture long-term partnerships while developing subcontractor interest and prequalification.
  • Execute Bidding & Procurement: Package work for competitive bids; analyze/clarify submissions; negotiate, award, and administer subcontracts, POs, and change orders.
  • Drive Field Excellence: Conduct site inspections, lead progress/safety meetings; develop site utilization plans, crew sizing, and 3-week look-aheads; enforce schedules, safety culture, and insurance compliance.
  • Manage the Details: Review/approve submittals, expedite materials; process RFIs/changes; prepare status reports; handle full closeout (as-builts, warranties, follow-up).
  • Champion Safety & Integration: Proactively build a top-tier safety culture; coordinate design-field interfaces for seamless execution.
  • Mentor & Elevate: Guide and develop staff, ensuring quality management principles and engineering/construction best practices are upheld.

What You Bring – The Industrial Leader Profile

We're seeking a high-caliber professional with proven success on diverse, complex projects-especially large industrial/manufacturing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent
  • 7–10+ years of successful construction project management experience (large industrial/manufacturing focus required; design-build a plus)
  • Deep expertise in construction principles: materials, methods, sequencing, scheduling, estimating, field systems, safety, and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards: contracts, laws, accounting, insurance/liability, claims avoidance
  • Proficiency interpreting construction documents and managing multidisciplinary coordination
  • Working knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Project
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills-professional, client-focused, and team-oriented
  • Strong work ethic, drive to deliver commitments, enthusiasm, and genuine commitment to client satisfaction
  • Willingness for periodic U.S. travel (approx. 20%)

Why Join Us?

  • Employee Ownership: 100% employee-owned-your contributions build equity and shared success through our ESOP.
  • Prestigious Portfolio: Lead transformative industrial/manufacturing projects with scope and creative, sustainable impact.
  • Comprehensive Perks: Competitive salary ($90,000–$150,000 base, depending on experience/qualifications) + discretionary annual bonuses (company + individual performance); full benefits (medical, dental, vision, life//accident insurance, flexible plans, EAP, parental leave); 401(k) matching; transportation benefits; half-day Fridays, flexible/hybrid scheduling, generous PTO/holidays.
  • Growth & Balance: Professional license/industry association reimbursement; internal training, leadership development, educational assistance; supportive culture focused on work-life balance, community service, and green initiatives.
  • Prime Location: Beautiful West Loop Chicago HQ-convenient transit access, with hybrid flexibility.

This is your chance to join a legendary, employee-empowered team where your expertise shapes iconic projects and your ownership stake rewards long-term commitment.
