Spence Brothers, a General Contractor and Construction Manager, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Traverse City team. This role provides the opportunity to be part of a dynamic construction team, assisting with project coordination, document management, and subcontractor communication.
Responsibilities
Manage submittal process for project(s)
- Develop submittal logs
- Collect, review and submit LEED information
- Manage submittal process utilizing Procore
- Review submittals prior to submission
- Track and make follow up calls to subcontractors and architect
- Visit project jobsites as needed
- Assist Superintendents with jobsite tasks
Assist with closeout process
- Prepare closeout logs
- Contact subcontractors and coordinate their submissions
- Review closeouts
- Assemble closeouts manuals
Assist with document management
- Import and process drawings into Procore
- Import and process specifications into Procore
- Facilitate document scanning and storage into Procore
- Assist with Preconstruction & Estimating
- Participate in drawing and specification review process
- Develop Value Engineering ideas and create logs
- Attend Prebid Meetings
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree or in the process of achieving a Degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Can do / will do attitude
- Strong communication and organization skills
Additional Qualifications
- Proficiency with industry standard scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, etc)
- Experience with Procore
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Perform a great deal of reaching, bending, balancing, kneeling, crawling, turning & twisting (180 degrees)
- Perform considerable climbing, lifting, carrying
- Able to walk, sit, stand and bend
- May need to traverse uneven ground
- Able to use hand to finger, reach with hands and arms, handle to feel objects or tools, be able to climb ladders, scaffolding and forms
- Able to talk, listen, hear and see
- Lift 50 to 80 lbs as necessary, possibly several times daily
- Work in weather conditions common to this area including heat, cold, rain and snow
- May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion
