Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Santa Rosa and North Bay
Compensation: $90K–$110K base salary + bonus + car allowance + gas card + ESOP + full benefits
Overview:
Established employee-owned civil contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support heavy civil construction projects throughout the North Bay. This role works closely with Area Managers and field teams to help coordinate day-to-day project operations, documentation, scheduling, reporting, and overall project support. We are a family owned company with over 100 years in business!
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and looking to grow long term within a collaborative construction environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their construction management career who wants exposure to both field and office operations while learning from experienced leadership teams.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, change requests, and project documentation
- Support construction planning, scheduling, and coordination efforts
- Help track material deliveries, inspections, and project progress
- Participate in project meetings and provide ongoing support to project teams
- Assist with project reporting, proposals, and contract documentation
- Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and clients
- Review drawings and specifications to support project execution
- Help identify project risks, constructability concerns, and cost-saving opportunities
- Support QA/QC efforts and project closeout activities
- Provide general project engineering and administrative support to Area Managers and field operations teams
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- or Project Engineer experience within construction is a plus
- Interest in heavy civil construction or infrastructure projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Team-oriented mindset with willingness to learn and grow
- Comfortable working both in office and field environments
- Experience with Microsoft Office required; Primavera and Spectrum experience are a plus
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
