Are you an experienced engineering professional with a passion for navigating the complexities of construction compliance and environmental regulations? Keish Environmental is looking for a highly skilled ConstructionProject Engineer to join our team and ensure the successful execution of critical engineering design and construction.
About the Role
The Construction Project Engineer serves as an engineer within the California High-Speed Rail (CAHSR) Construction Office, providing critical technical expertise to support the successful delivery of construction packages. This position is responsible for ensuring engineering design and construction activities are completed in compliance with CAHSR technical standards, federal and state regulations, and industry best practices. The Construction Project Engineer provides technical review, design oversight, and field engineering support to resolve complex engineering issues, while coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity, safety, and quality of the nations first high-speed rail system.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Responsibilities: Review and provide technical oversight of engineering submittals, construction drawings, and specifications for compliance with CAHSR standards and applicable codes. Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering procedures, technical criteria, construction, and project documentation. Provide technical input during constructability reviews and value engineering assessments.
- Coordinate and Support: Support the resolution of design and construction issues, including field engineering changes, RFIs, and non-conformance reports. Coordinate across disciplines (civil, structural, geotechnical, systems, and environmental) to ensure integration of design and construction activities. Support risk identification and mitigation activities related to engineering and construction.
- Teams and Construction: Take part in the management of contractor teams to bid, propose and deploy for construction. Monitor construction progress and support the Engineering Manager in ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence. Be proactive in solving any field issue to alleviate contractor impacts. Interface with contractors, consultants, local jurisdictions, and regulatory agencies as required for technical coordination.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Take part in the management of contractor teams to bid, propose and deploy for construction. Monitor construction progress and support the Engineering Manager in ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence. Be proactive in solving any field issue to alleviate contractor impacts
What You Bring
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible engineering experience on major transportation or infrastructure projects, with emphasis on design review and construction support
- Qualifications: Bachelors degree (Masters ) in civil engineering or related engineering discipline. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California, or the ability to take the exam as soon as practical. Demonstrated knowledge of engineering standards, construction methods, and project delivery for large-scale transportation or rail projects.
- Leadership and Coordination: Proven ability to manage teams, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and ensure timely compliance across complex projects.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise compliance documents and engage with regulatory agencies effectively.
- Problem Solving: A solution-oriented mindset with the ability to address compliance challenges and resolve issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Experience with high-speed rail, commuter rail, or other complex rail transit projects
- Experience working on federally and state-funded transportation projects
- Familiarity with Caltrans, FRA, and CPUC standards and requirements
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable
