Large Northern New Jersey based General Contractor is seeking a full-time Construction Project Engineer. In this role, you will assist the project manager and team with the project set up and project execution to meet the requirements and goals of the client. This is a position that will require you to be both on-site and in-office when needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the construction administration process from pre-construction through close out.
- Coordinate, organize, track, update and/or expedite the flow of information, files, drawings, permits, and correspondence.
- Assist in developing and updating the project schedule
- Assist in the management and negotiation of subcontractor and material vendor contracts
- Process change orders
- Document control, including the daily maintenance of the material listing
- Distribute RFI’s and RFP’s upon delegation from PM
- Maintain unit entry matrix schedules
- Log and organize drawings, ensuring current set is always maintained
- Participate in weekly progress and coordination meetings
- Monitor project specific MBE/WBE requirements
- Assist in the preparation of monthly AIA billings
- Coordinate and schedule on site material deliveries
- Work closely with Project Managers on project deliverables
- Write and edit O&M manuals including coordinating with vendors and subcontractors to obtain appropriate documentation
- Coordinate work and correspondence between all project team members
- Other related projects, as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- OSHA-10
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency—Timberline experience a plus
- Highly organized
- Broad understanding of the construction industry
- Experience supporting construction project managers in developing budgets and cost variance analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
- Ability to process requests quickly and efficiently
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated and self-starter
