Construction Project Engineer in Oakland

General Summary

The Construction Project Engineer works closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to coordinate subcontracted and self-performed work. Key responsibilities include document tracking, RFI and submittal management, material expediting, resolving plan conflicts, and enforcing project safety and quality standards. Reports directly to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Document & Submittal Management: Oversee the RFI and submittal processes, track revision logs (ASI/bulletins), and prepare OAC meeting agendas and minutes.
• Field & Operations Support: Assist the Superintendent with procurement of site services, logistics plans, daily logs, photo documentation, and neighbor notifications.
• Safety & Compliance: Monitor project safety adherence (Cal/OSHA), coordinate regulatory permits, and track environmental compliance (LEED/CALGreen).
• Cost & Schedule Control: Help monitor labor/material costs, assemble pending change orders, review subcontractor pay applications, and maintain procurement schedules.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect delivered materials against approved submittals, assist with preconstruction mock-ups, and manage punch lists and observation reports.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain strong daily communication with owners, architects, inspectors, and subcontractors.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of construction processes, drawings, specifications, and Cal/OSHA standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and project management tools.
