Position Summary
The Project engineer is responsible for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The project engineer’s responsibility spans a broad spectrum, covering the areas of project management, including project planning, cost management, time management, quality management, contract administration, and safety management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Track and distribute correspondences throughout the duration of the project
- Track correspondences between parties/project team
- Review, document, and track transmittals, submittals, request for information (RFI’s), project closeout, punch list, payment application requests, and project schedule.
- Document and track project progress through daily, weekly, and monthly reports (dailies, accident, subcontractor logs, photographic documents, and control logs)
- Create meeting agenda’s and take meeting minutes for project meetings such as preconstruction, construction process, special installation, subcontractor, and special issue meetings
- Archive all project documents
- Review, update as-built drawings
- Assist with the review and implementation of all safety and quality on the jobsite
- Maintain (MSDS) Material Specific Data Sheets onsite
- Encourage jobsite safety and the wearing of PPE
- Assist with oversight of all inspection and quality checklists and logs
- Assist with oversight of system testing and documenting
- Assist with managing full construction schedule and project budgets
- Technical writing of project documents and documentation management
- Monitor and observe daily construction activities on projects
- Set up document control system and tracking processes
- Prepare monthly reports, maintain project records, review contractor application for payment requests, change orders, and manage change documentation
- Attend contractor and architect’s meetings and other coordination meetings such as preconstruction, construction progress, special installation, and others.
- Implement communication plans for meetings, meeting minutes, written reports to keep client and project team up to date on construction progress
- Assist with project delivery resources/team providing guidance and direction to achieve project goals.
- Other assigned tasks by manager.
Educations and/or Experience
- Bachelor's in construction management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or similar from an accredited college.
- 1 - 3 years of experience as a project coordinator, project engineer or project manager, or similar
- Experience in project management software
- Demonstrated good communication skills, competent in construction process and documentation, experienced and successful in managing projects, staff development and building relationships.
- Ability to work onsite.
- Ability to physically sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift up to 25lbs.
- Demonstrates capability to read and understand construction plans.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify complex project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and ability to implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work is generally performed both in an office environment and on the jobsite. The employee may visit project sites where there may be exposure to various conditions and weather. On the project site, the employee may work near moving equipment and heavy traffic. Employees or Contractors may be assigned to work at a client's office, facility, or site for an extended period. Conditions may vary at each location. May perform some assignments that require physical exertion.
