Construction Project Engineer
(Entry-Level / Assistant to Project Manager)
Location: Brea, CA
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience Level: Entry-level encouraged; previous construction experience is a plus
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Construction Project Engineer to support our Project Manager on active construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in commercial/residential/industrial construction while working closely with an experienced PM.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager with daily project coordination and documentation
- Track project progress, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records (RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily logs)
- Review and process shop drawings, material submittals, and specifications
- Help coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel
- Support schedule monitoring and assist in identifying potential delays or issues
- Perform quantity take-offs and assist with cost tracking
- Conduct site visits and walkthroughs to verify work in place
- Help ensure compliance with plans, specifications, safety standards, and building codes
- Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field .
- No prior professional experience required — recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply
- Previous , co-op, or hands-on construction experience ( but not required)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word); experience with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam,, etc.) is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Willingness to learn quickly and work in both office and field environments
