Position Summary:

The Construction will gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge of residential construction operations. Over the 8-week program, the will develop an understanding of each major phase of new home construction, from site preparation through final walkthrough, including sequencing and trade coordination. The will participate in subcontractor coordination meetings and job site safety discussions, applying OSHA safety principles and job site protocols. Additionally, the will support site and quality control by assisting with new home orientations, developing punch lists, verifying completion of corrective items, and documenting adherence to quality standards.

The program will be in session from June 8 – July 31 and based in Orlando, FL.

Job Duties:

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ensure the subdivision presents a consistently orderly and professional appearance.
  • Develop and manage a weekly construction schedule to coordinate upcoming work with trade contractors and suppliers.
  • Coordinate and schedule required government inspections in compliance with local building regulations.
  • Conduct daily site and phase inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to project standards.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Gain hands-on field experience by working alongside a Construction Manager on active home sites, including construction sequencing, phase inspections, trade partner coordination, site safety, quality control, new home orientations (NHOs), and customer interactions.
  • Receive structured mentorship with a designated Construction Manager for daily guidance, weekly check-ins, midpoint and final performance feedback, and exposure to career path opportunities within homebuilding leadership.
  • Develop proficiency with industry tools, including construction scheduling software, blueprint and plan review processes, and digital documentation and tracking systems.


Key Qualifications:

  • Motivated college student pursuing a career in residential construction, construction management, or real estate development.
  • Strong interest in residential construction and homebuilding operations.
  • Enthusiasm for field-based project management, including scheduling, cost control, and trade coordination.
  • Interest in managing subcontractors and ensuring quality control throughout the construction process.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer satisfaction and supporting a professional homebuilding environment.
  • Eagerness to gain hands-on experience and exposure to all aspects of home construction and project coordination.


Special Projects:

Interns will actively participate in projects within their team and department, contributing to real business initiatives throughout the program. In addition, each will be responsible for completing a final project at the end of the , showcasing the skills, knowledge, and insights they have gained, as well as highlighting their contributions to the organization.


Compensation:

The hourly rate for this role is $20.00, with wages paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires both office and field work. Employees must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs and ladders, reach, and walk on uneven or active construction terrain. The role involves lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and safely operating a motor vehicle. Clear vision, hearing, and speech are essential to perform job functions effectively.

Work may take place in varying conditions, including heat, cold, inclement weather, and potential exposure to hazardous materials. Required PPE may include hard hats, steel-toe boots, eye, hearing, and respiratory protection. Computer proficiency is also necessary. Public contact is required; therefore, professional appearance and appropriate business attire are expected.
