Overview
The Construction Operations Manager plays a vital supporting role in Build Strong’s project delivery process, working closely with the Construction Project Manager to ensure every phase of a project runs smoothly — from estimating and procurement to scheduling, documentation, and closeout. This position bridges the gap between the field and office, providing operational, administrative, and logistical support that keeps projects on schedule, within budget, and compliant with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in managing day-to-day project operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely execution.
- Coordinate permits, inspections, material orders, and subcontractor schedules to maintain project timelines.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and tracking RFIs, change orders, estimates, and progress reports.
- Manage internal documentation, ensuring all project files, bids, and records are accurate and up to date.
- Liaise between field crews, vendors, inspectors, and office teams to ensure clear communication and smooth workflow.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets, flagging potential delays or cost variances early for corrective action.
- Support the bidding and estimating process by collecting subcontractor quotes, verifying scopes, and organizing proposals.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards, permitting regulations, and company operational policies.
- Contribute to process improvement by identifying operational bottlenecks and proposing practical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in construction operations, coordination, or project administration.
- Strong understanding of residential construction processes, permitting, and project documentation.
- Proficient in project management or construction software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for coordinating across field and office teams.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple ongoing projects.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting residential design-build or custom/luxury construction projects.
- Knowledge of estimating or procurement processes.
- Familiarity with Los Angeles-area building codes, inspectors, and permit offices.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, superintendents, and vendors.
