Construction Materials Handler

Description
Kodiak Labor Solutions is seeking a dependable and organized Construction Materials Handler to support our plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal field operations. This role is responsible for receiving, tracking, organizing, and distributing materials, tools, and equipment while coordinating deliveries to jobsites and supporting warehouse operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience with construction materials, strong organizational skills, and the ability to ensure field teams receive the right materials safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming materials, tools, and equipment.
- Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and freight bills.
- Document and report shortages, overages, and damaged materials.
- Photograph and record shipment discrepancies as needed.
- Identify, label, and maintain the material organization within the warehouse.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and material locations.
- Pick, stage, package, and prepare materials for delivery to jobsites and field personnel.
- Fulfill material requests for plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal field teams.
- Coordinate material movement between vendors, warehouse locations, and jobsites.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Track company tools and equipment, including quantity, condition, and location.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory and warehouse operations.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in material handling, or construction logistics.
- Experience in construction logistics .
- Possess basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions
- Familiarity with general plumbing materials, pipe fittings, valves, and sheet metal products .
- Ability to accurately fulfill material requests and support field operations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory systems .
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include short notice of work assignments, emergencies, weekends and overtime (scheduled & unscheduled) as required.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles and make deliveries to jobsites.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, reach and carry throughout the workday.
- Ability to learn how to safely load, unload material to trucks and trailers for deliveries and / or receiving at warehouse.
- Ability to work in both a warehouse and job site environment with varying temperature and weather conditions.
- Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and remain calm when working towards deadlines.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Ability to adapt to the ever-changing ways of construction and maintain a positive outlook.
