Project Overview
The Construction Management Representative (CMR) will provide technical assistance and on-site oversight for a federal infrastructure construction project involving main water distribution, underground utility improvements, soil borings to identify karst voids, extensive rock trenching, relocation of a lift station, and civil/site work within an active and environmentally sensitive facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site visits to inspect workmanship, quality, and conformance with contract documents and safety standards. Generate daily reports with progress photographs for the Park Service (NPS) team
- Utilize NPS-provided Project Team software for real-time task management, team collaboration, and document hosting. Review and process Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals for accuracy and compliance
- Facilitate and chair weekly progress meetings, prepare written meeting minutes, and coordinate efforts between the construction contractor and NPS staff to minimize disruption to park operations
- Review the contractor's baseline and progress schedules, evaluate monthly payment requests, and confirm the submission of certified payrolls
- Assist in drafting scoping documents for contract modifications, prepare Government Cost Estimates, and provide written analysis of contractor proposals or claims
Qualifications
- Candidate must have background in construction or civil engineering with proven experience providing similar services for comparable projects.
- Must possess Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour construction safety training
- Thorough understanding of construction practices, building codes, and applicable federal and state water and wastewater regulations
- Proficiency in technical writing, negotiating, and computer literacy (Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and PDFs)
