Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong background in the utilities and water sector to lead the safe and successful delivery of major infrastructure projects.\n\nThe role will involve managing construction activities across a portfolio of clean water and wastewater schemes, including:\n\n * Rising mains\n\n * New water main reinforcements and replacements\n\n * Shaft construction works\n\n * Storm storage schemes\n\n * Minor Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Manage day-to-day construction operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.\n\n * Lead site teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners across multiple projects.\n\n * Coordinate construction activities with project, design, commercial, and operational teams.\n\n * Monitor programme, resources, productivity, and project performance.\n\n * Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and contractual requirements.\n\n * Manage stakeholder relationships and support project planning, risk management, and delivery strategies.\n\nEssential Requirements\n\n * Proven experience as a Construction Manager within the utilities/water industry.\n\n * Demonstrable experience delivering major clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects.\n\n * Experience managing rising mains, water main reinforcements and replacements, shaft works, storm storage schemes, and minor M&E installations.\n\n * Strong understanding of civil engineering construction, water industry standards, and health & safety requirements.\n\n * Experience leading site teams, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary workforces.\n\n * Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.\n\n * Full UK driving licence.\n\nDesirable Qualifications\n\n * HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.\n\n * SMSTS, CSCS, IOSH/NEBOSH.\n\n * Experience working under NEC contracts
