Job Description

HukariAscendent is a Women-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and other Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities.

Job Title: Construction Manager (Project Manager 3)

Duration: 6-12 months with possibility of conversion to direct employment

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico (On-site)

Short Summary about Job:

Seeking experienced Construction Managers to support 24/7 nuclear facility reconfiguration operations. This role involves hands-on management of all construction and demolition activities within a high-security plutonium facility undergoing major upgrades. You will work rotating 12-hour shifts managing complex construction projects in a nuclear environment, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear industry (nuclear power plants, DOE sites) OR equivalent experience in oil & gas, remediation, or general construction
• Ability to obtain and maintain Q-level security clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification
• Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and all shift rotations (Tuesday-Friday days/nights, Friday-Monday days/nights)
• Above-basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for daily progress reporting
• Physical ability to be on feet for extended periods and walk between multiple job sites
• Strong project management fundamentals and basic understanding of EVMS/progress reporting
• Background in electrical, mechanical, structural, or piping engineering disciplines
• Experience with construction and demolition in regulated/controlled environments

Qualifications

• Current Q-level security clearance
• Previous experience at TA-55 or similar DOE nuclear facilities
• Background as Navy nuclear technician
• Experience with nuclear power plant construction or reconfiguration projects
• Familiarity with structural steel, piping systems, and building construction (not purely civil/roads/bridges)
• Experience working in 24/7 operational environments

Miscellaneous/Additional Information:

• Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts on 4-day schedules (all employees rotate through all shifts)
• Overtime: Expected and available (no on-call)
• Per diem: Available
• Relocation: Not typically provided
• PPE Requirements: Basic construction PPE (lab coats, gloves, booties) - no high-level PPE required
• Hiring: 4 positions available, interviews beginning immediately with goal to fill first positions within 2 weeks
• Security: Must be able to pass background investigation for Q clearance (can start process if not already cleared, though existing clearance )
• Deal-breakers: Inability to obtain clearance or unwillingness to work all shift rotations including nights/weekends
