Construction Management / Commercial Assistant
The Client:
A high-end residential contractor and bespoke developer based in Norwich, this well-established business has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional, individually designed homes across some of the region’s most sought-after locations. With a mix of private client builds and in-house developments for private sale, they blend craftsmanship with attention to detail, offering a tailored and personal service from concept through to completion. As the company continues to grow, they are offering a rare opportunity for an ambitious individual to join as a Management / Commercial Assistant or Trainee, working closely with the Managing Director.
The Role:
This is a diverse and hands-on role that offers direct exposure to the full project lifecycle – from land acquisition and planning, through to cost management, delivery, and client handover. You’ll assist the MD across key functions including quantity surveying, project management, estimating, land buying and the planning process. Whether you’re early in your career or looking to step into a broader commercial role, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable experience within the world of bespoke residential construction and property development.
Responsibilities:
• Support with cost planning, estimating, and quantity surveying across a range of bespoke homebuilding projects.
• Assist with procurement, programming and general project management tasks.
• Help identify and research land opportunities, supporting negotiations and acquisitions.
• Contribute to the planning journey – from coordinating consultants to submitting applications.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, schedules and reports.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, consultants and subcontractors as needed.
• Learn and develop across all areas of high-end residential delivery and development.
Qualifications & Experience:
• A qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Real Estate or a related discipline is – or equivalent practical experience in a construction-related setting.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A keen interest in residential construction, property development and planning.
• Eagerness to learn and develop across a wide range of responsibilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally some familiarity with construction software.
• Full UK driving licence – due to site locations across rural Norfolk.
Salary & Package:
• £30,000 – £35,000 per annum
• Hands-on training and mentorship from the company’s Managing Director
