Construction & Infrastructure Solicitor

Job DescriptionThe Firm
My client is a highly respected and long-established regional law firm with offices across the UK, including a thriving practice in Derby. Known for its client-focused approach and consistent presence in the Legal 200, the firm has built a reputation for delivering practical, high-quality legal advice across both public and private sectors. With strong internal values, a genuine commitment to professional development, and excellent client reviews, this is a firm where legal professionals feel supported, empowered, and proud to be part of the team.

Why settle for a role that doesn’t push your career forward? Could this be your next big move?

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join the Infrastructure & Construction team in the Derby office. The role offers the chance to work on high-value, complex matters as part of a collaborative, award-winning department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting partners and senior lawyers with a broad range of Infrastructure & Construction work

  • Managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision

  • Providing high-quality legal advice to clients in a timely and commercially sound manner

  • Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts and documentation

  • Engaging in business development activities, supported by senior team members

  • Building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with clients and third parties

  • Meeting individual and team billing targets and contributing to wider team success

  • Assisting with mentoring or supporting junior colleagues where appropriate

You
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in Infrastructure and/or Construction law and a proactive, commercial mindset.

You will have:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor or CILEX with relevant construction/infrastructure experience

  • A solid grounding in both contentious and non-contentious matters (or strong knowledge in either)

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure

  • A collaborative and professional approach, with a desire to grow your legal career

  • Confidence in developing client relationships and working with a range of stakeholders

  • A positive attitude, keen eye for detail, and the drive to make an impact

Is it time to step into a role where your contributions are truly recognised?

Benefits
In return, you’ll join a well-regarded team in a supportive and modern firm offering:

  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising with length of service)

  • An extra day off on your birthday

  • Life assurance (3x salary)

  • Pension scheme with Legal & General

  • Access to a dedicated Employee Assistance Programme

  • Salary sacrifice options, including Cycle to Work, additional pension contributions, and holiday purchase

  • Staff discounts on legal services

  • Ongoing in-house training and external development opportunities

  • A collaborative and friendly working environment with a focus on wellbeing and work-life balance
