JOB SUMMARY:

Field Superintendents is responsible for scheduling, coordinating and supervising field project activities with the Project Manager ensuring progress against the schedule while maintaining owner satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General:

  • Manages all facets of day-to-day coordination and operations on the project.
  • Establishes and maintains the highest degree of quality possible on each project.
  • Assumes responsibility for understanding all job specifications.
  • Maintains drawing/specification updates.
  • Opens and closes the project daily.
  • Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and vendors to complete each project on time.
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project.
  • Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location.
  • Maintain a written daily log of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site.
  • Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects.
  • Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings, and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary.
  • Set an example in keeping the job site organized and clean, including meeting standards for waste disposal and environmental protection.
  • Establishes and maintains the highest degree of quality possible on each project.
  • Assumes responsibility for understanding all job specifications.
  • Maintains drawing/specification updates.

Cost Quality:

  • Understands and implements use of the issue log whenever cost may be impacted.
  • Assists Project Manager with review of Change Orders, payment applications and certified payrolls.
  • Observes and monitors Time and Material work.
  • Assists in compilation, review, and update of punch list.

Safety:

• Monitors compliance with each Contractor's individual site-specific Safety Program requirements.

• Investigates and documents safety incidents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.

• Assists the Architect/Engineer in the development of project punch lists and monitors the completion of those lists, prior to release of a contractor's final payment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as a superintendent for commercial construction projects.
  • Basic knowledge of software programs, such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to write reports and professional correspondence to vendors, subcontractors, government officials, and clients.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent people skills including customer relations, diplomacy, and assertiveness.

• Strong negotiation skills.

• A demonstrated ability to supervise and direct staff in meeting goals and deadlines.

• A demonstrated ability to achieve key objectives.
