Construction Estimator Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator to join our team. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. This role is essential in ensuring competitive bids, profitability, and overall project success.
Key Responsibilities
• Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Prepare detailed and itemized cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Analyze blueprints, drawings, and technical documents to develop accurate take-offs.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project details.
• Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives.
• Prepare and present proposals, budgets, and bid packages.
• Track project costs and adjust estimates as necessary during project progression.
• Maintain a database of cost information, historical data, and supplier/subcontractor contacts.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field ().
• Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
• Office-based with occasional site visits.
• Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for project deadlines.
