Amity Construction Corp. is looking for an Estimator or Assistant Estimator to calculate the total cost of construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and time. The role requires the ability to analyze blueprints, perform takeoffs, solicit vendor quotes, and assess risks to prepare competitive, profitable bids. The work ensures projects are financially feasible before construction begins.
Essential qualifications for this role include a degree or equivalent experience in estimating and construction management, substantial construction industry experience, and proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Bid to Win, and Procore). Strong financial acumen and exceptional communication skills are required. Furthermore, candidates must possess a valid driver's license, the capacity to work effectively in both office and field environments, and an OSHA 10 safety certification.
Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Bidding:
-
Analyze drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine total project expenses, including materials, labor, and equipment.

Define and understand project requirements, including site visits to assess potential challenges.

Build accurate, well‐structured estimates for site development projects.
-
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and engineering documents.
-
Calculate precise material quantities required for construction projects.
-
Prepare and submit detailed, competitive cost proposals for tenders and bids and support post-bid clarifications.

Attend Pre-Bid and Bid Opening events.

Solicit, negotiate, and analyze quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.

Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals, ensuring scope coverage and competitiveness.

Price and manage change orders throughout construction.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, field teams, and leadership during preconstruction.

Identify potential financial risks, monitor project progress, and suggest cost-saving alternatives.

Contract & Financial Administration:

Review and negotiate subcontractor and owner contracts.
-
Manage and process change orders and back charges.
-
Ensure all insurance and bonding requirements are met.

Communication & Stakeholder Management:

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Communicate project status, risks, and changes to all stakeholders.

Foster positive relationships with key vendors and trade partners.

Site Supervision & Coordination:

Coordinate site activities, including staff scheduling and material deliveries.

Resolve issues related to material quality, equipment operation, and on-site problems.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Support Project Management:

Updating cost projections as project designs change or unforeseen circumstances arise.

Track project costs, manage budgets, and approve invoices.
Technical Knowledge:

Software: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project), Google Workspace, and construction management/estimating software like Procore, Sage, BTW (Bid To Win), or similar tools. Proficient in Tremble GPS.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze plans, specifications, and cost data to produce accurate estimates and budgets.

Financial Literacy: Strong understanding of job cost analysis, budget management, and financial reporting.

Education & Experience:

Degree: A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is but not required.

Experience: Proven experience in estimating is required.
Other Requirements:

Driver's License: A current, unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record is required for site visits.

Safety Training: A 10-hour OSHA course is sometimes required.

Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and weekends to meet project deadlines.
