Construction Estimator (Earthwork / Sitework)

Location: Longview, TX (Onsite)
Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000+(DOE) + company performance bonus + full benefits

About the Role

We are seeking a Construction Estimator with experience in earthwork, grading, and site development to join a growing services division. This is a contractor-side role focused on building detailed, bottom-up estimates that directly drive project wins and profitability.

This is not a plug-and-play estimating position. You will be part of a collaborative team responsible for evaluating opportunities, developing accurate cost models, and supporting a fast-paced bid environment.

What You’ll Do

• Develop detailed cost estimates for earthwork and sitework projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs and build estimates using Excel-based models
• Analyze labor, equipment, and material costs, including production rates
• Participate in go/no-go bid decisions based on risk and profitability
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather project information
• Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and leadership throughout the bid process
• Assist in sourcing subcontractors and supporting pricing inputs
• Support multiple bids in a deadline-driven environment

What We’re Looking For

• Experience on the contractor side (earthwork, grading, sitework, or heavy civil)
• 2–5+ years of experience in estimating, project management, or field roles with estimating exposure
• Ability to build detailed, bottom-up estimates (not high-level budgeting)
• Strong understanding of construction processes and equipment capabilities
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Background

• Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical degree
• Experience with site development, excavation, grading, or roadway projects
• Exposure to DOT or infrastructure-related work

Work Environment

• Onsite in Longview, TX
• Typical schedule: 45 hours per week
• Standard hours: approximately 7:00/7:30 AM – 4:00/4:30 PM
• Occasional extended hours to meet bid deadlines

Travel

• Up to ~30% travel for pre-bid meetings and site visits
• Trips are typically short (2–3 days) and planned in advance
• No long-term site assignments

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $80,000 – $100,000+ (depending on experience)
