Construction Estimator

The Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for accurately estimating construction project costs, preparing proposals, managing awarded projects from start to completion, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating:
- Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare accurate takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Prepare and submit detailed proposals and bid packages.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, unit costs, and historical data for future use.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
Project Management:
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all aspects of awarded projects from start to finish.
- Develop project budgets and maintain cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ensure materials, equipment, and labor are scheduled appropriately to maintain project timelines.
- Perform regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
- Manage and process change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
- Track project billing, progress payments, and ensure timely collection.
- Close out projects including punch lists and warranty documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field .
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating and/or project management (commercial or residential construction ).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); estimating software experience (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar) .
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation for site visits.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk construction sites, climb ladders, and occasionally lift materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on estimates and project documents.
