Position Summary
Oxford Builders, Inc., a commercial sub contractor construction firm serving the Houston area, is seeking a highly motivated Estimator to join its team. This role is ideal for individuals eager to develop proficiency in construction document analysis, cost estimation, contract review, budgeting, and code compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Bid Management & Estimating
-
Review 100+ bids weekly, selecting fewer than 25% for pursuit.

Collaborate with management to identify viable bids and initiate the process.

Attend client meetings to clarify bid requirements.

Analyze drawings, documents, and specifications.

Input bid data into Excel and calculate labor, materials, and equipment costs.

Apply mark-ups for labor burden, profit, and overhead.

Submit accurate proposals within tight deadlines.

Follow up with clients post-submission for feedback and results.

Project Support & Budgeting

Review contracts against proposals to identify variances.

Create project-specific budgets and lead kickoff meetings.

Participate in shop drawing reviews and provide basic project management support.

Analyze actual project costs versus budgeted amounts and report variances.

Internal and External Coordination
-
Attend and represent the company at professional and industry events.
-
Participate in regular staff meetings.
-
Assist in training new employees as needed.

Travel locally (approx. 5% of the time) to visit client sites.

Technology Tools Used
-
MS Word, Excel, On Screen Take Off, and AutoCAD, Procore, GCPay.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. -
Experience:
0–3 years of relevant work or experience in construction, estimating, or project management. -
Other Requirements:
Must successfully complete a background check.
(1) Previous estimation, project management and/or field work exposure.
(2) Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
(3) OSHA 30 Certification.
