SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, experienced, Engineer to work full time for SJS Executives in Long Beach, CA to help support operations at a Veteran’s Affairs Medical facility.
SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.
This is a Full-Time, On-Site position.
Annual salary for this position is $96,720. There will also include 80hrs Sick Time/PTO, 11 paid Federal Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k.
The right candidate will have strong working knowledge of healthcare design and the understanding of fire codes, building codes, barrier free codes, system, components, cleaning and maintenance concepts, ergonomics and safety criteria.
He or she will already have experience in performing independent, timely, and professional structural engineering products, services, and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities. These projects will include minor works projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, and facilities development.
This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.
Responsibilities will include:
- The Engineer shall provide contract support services including all aspects of both pre-award functions, including market research, providing business advice to customers, preparing solicitation and award packages including all related contractual documents, and post-award administration in support of construction activation projects.
- Project Development and planning, budgeting, scoping, and user coordination.
- Provide professional engineering/architectural advice to include building and safety code research and interpretation, feasibility assessment and recommendations.
- Perform project administration work, including report preparation and project applications.
- Preforming construction administration, including phasing, approval of submittals, payments, final inspections, acceptance, and close-outs.
- Prepares detailed cost estimates for use in obtaining project funding and bid evaluation.
- Daily work in healthcare construction involves extensive use of a computer, Microsoft software applications, and requires that the Incumbent enter and update data into various VA Capital Asset Portals.
- Prepares detailed cost estimates for use in obtaining project funding and bid evaluation.
- Determines requirements, reconnaissance, location, and prepares designs, specifications and estimates.
- Work complexities require not only adaption or modification of precedents but a versatile and innovative approaches to solve problems where serious conflicts exist between management requirements and engineering principles.
- Provides professional oversite and/or project management of construction or maintenance efforts.
- And other various Engineering related tasks and assignments that Chief of Planning may require or request.
Qualifications:
- In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
- 4 or more years of Project/General Engineering Experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with patient Centered Care Culture in Healthcare. (, not required)
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access& Outlook) is required.
- Demonstrate knowledgeable of the latest structural materials and methods of construction.
- Experience Revit, Microsoft Project, and VISTA (Veterans Health Information & Technology Architecture) are beneficial, but not required.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly .
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
