Construction Accounting/Controller in Charlotte
Job DescriptionJob Description
The Opportunity: Why This Isn't Just Another Controller Job
At Hallmark Building, we don't just manage buildings; we build, broker, and invest in the future of the Carolinas. Because we are a vertically integrated firm, our finance team doesn't stay in a silo. You will have a front-row seat to the entire lifecycle of real estate, from the first shovel in the ground to the final lease signature.
We are looking for more than a technical expert. We are looking for a growth partner. If you are hungry to understand the why behind the numbers, eager to improve systems, and want a career path that leads to opportunity.
Are You the Hallmark fit?
We aren't looking for a box-checker. We are looking for a human who is:
· Entrepreneurial: You don't wait for a manual; you see a gap in a process, and you bridge it.
· Curious: You want to know how the development side impacts the brokerage side. You are a lifelong learner.
· Resilient: You thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift as new deals hit the table.
· A Leader, Not Just a Manager: You enjoy mentoring your team and translating accounting-speak into actionable insights for our leadership.
Your Impact
As Controller, you will be the engine room of our financial operations. You will:
· Direct the Symphony: Oversee all accounting operations across our development, brokerage, and property management entities.
· Be a Strategic Voice: Partner with leadership to provide the financial truth that drives our acquisitions and investment decisions.
· Master the Capital Stack: Manage construction draws, lender compliance, and complex partnership structures with precision.
· Innovate Systems: We use tools like Avid and Rent Manager; you’ll be tasked with making sure our tech stack works as hard as we do.
· Build the Future: Mentor your staff and create a culture of high performance and high integrity.
What You Bring to the Table
· Experience: 5+ years in accounting, with at least 3-5 years specifically in Commercial Real Estate or Construction. (If you’ve handled development accounting and partnership waterfalls, we definitely want to talk).
· Credentials: A Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance is required; a CPA is a huge plus, but we value your track record just as much as the letters.
· Technical Chops: Advanced Excel skills and experience with CRE software (Rent Manager, Quickbooks Online, BuilderTrend, or AppFolio).
· The All-In Mentality: You’re ready to take ownership of the role and grow alongside a firm that is actively shaping the region.
