Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Accounting Clerk to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting and administrative functions within our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting or bookkeeping—preferably in the construction industry—and a solid understanding of job costing, accounts payable, and invoicing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and track accounts payable and receivable for construction projects
- Maintain accurate job costing and general ledger entries
- Assist with payroll processing and certified payroll reporting (if applicable)
- Reconcile bank statements and vendor accounts
- Prepare and issue customer invoices based on project milestones or schedules
- Maintain organized records of financial transactions, contracts, and vendor files
- Assist with monthly financial reports and project cost analysis
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and project managers regarding billing and payments
- Maintain compliance with lien waivers, insurance certificates, and contract documentation
- Perform other general administrative and accounting tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience; construction industry experience a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop)
- Strong understanding of job costing and AIA billing formats is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
