Computational Physicist (Early, Mid-Career, or Senior Level)

We are seeking an innovative physicist to conduct hydrodynamic and 3D electromagnetic simulations for commercial pulsed-power applications. Candidates should have a background in physics, electrical engineering, applied physics, or mechanical engineering and will join a growing team working on diverse projects.

I-Pulse Albuquerque is investing in R&D to pioneer new technologies and establish industry benchmarks in pulsed-power and electrical systems. We seek creative individuals who can rapidly transform concepts into hardware and integrate them into commercial applications.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborating with scientists, engineers, technicians, and program managers to scale pulsed-power systems for industrial applications.
  • Using simulation tools (e.g., FLASH, LS-DYNA, ALE, COMSOL, CST, HFSS) for MHD, circuit, and multi-physics simulations.
  • Modeling hydrodynamic, solid-matter interfaces, liquids, and pulsed-power system scaling.
  • Managing computing systems and diverse operating systems (Linux, macOS, Windows) or small clusters.
  • Presenting work at design reviews, managing schedules, and tracking project costs.
  • Analyzing theoretical simulation results and experimental data.
  • Documenting theoretical results.
  • Preparing technical proposals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (with experience) or Master’s in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–10+ years of experience in advanced simulations.
  • Experience in research, development, or prototyping environments.
  • Experience writing proposals for competitive solicitations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in simulations or related projects for government or industry.
  • Expertise in theoretical physics, electrical engineering, or applied physics.
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
