As a service technician your impact is two-fold:
- For the customer, your goal is to execute work orders for service, repair, and installation of air compressors, air-dryers, and related electrical components as scheduled, providing quality service on time and to our customer's specifications.
- For the team, your goal is to maintain organized, efficient, and quality centric work. You'll be responsible for documenting, communicating, and verifying needs and information; collaborating with other team members and departments; and coordinating activities to ensure excellent customer experience.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment using various electrical multimeters, gauges, and hand & power tools to diagnose problems and determine proper operation and maintenance of equipment, including reviewing corrective procedures. Inform customers of problems and receive repair approval.
- Disassemble and repair air compressors, dryers, and related components by replacing worn or damaged parts, and test run equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Read and understand electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, etc. for troubleshooting and equipment assembly.
- Measure clearances, tolerances, and dimension of parts with micrometers and calipers to ensure critical components are assembled to specifications.
- Prepare repair quotes, indicating costs of parts and labor needed to repair equipment.
- Layout and install new or specialized equipment on site, including verifying operating voltage, rigging and installing equipment, fabricating necessary structures, and securing equipment.
- Discuss proper installation and operation of new equipment with customers, and perform necessary start-up checks to ensure operating requirements are met.
- Discuss warranty terms & procedures with customer.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce breakdowns.
- Control, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste, such as solvents, oils, and Freons in accordance with E.P.A. guidelines & regulations.
- Cut, thread, and assemble steel pipe and fittings for air system fabrication.
- Use welding equipment and cutting torches to fabricate metal as needed.
- Complete service call report documents, identifying problems, noting repairs made & parts used, and giving appropriate customer recommendations, submitting to department coordinator for processing and billing.
- Maintain adequate and accurate product inventory in service van.
- Ensure routine van maintenance is performed on company vehicle as scheduled or required.
- Ensure customers, manager, and JHF salesperson are informed and briefed on each service call performed.
- Other ad hoc duties as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Relevant associate degree (or equivalent experience) from a college or technical school .
- Minimum of 3-years related experience to gain sufficient knowledge to perform the duties of the position.
- Have appropriate refrigeration certifications, in addition to skills necessary to troubleshoot and repair refrigerated air-dryers (including removal and reinstallation of Freon compressors).
- Ability to interpret instructions (written/verbal) and work orders, with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work while meeting productivity standards.
- Strong organization, communication (clear/concise/solution focused), and collaboration skills are required to be successful.
- The ability to build and maintain great working relationships with other team members.
- The ability to problem-solve and work through challenges, be adaptable through fluid situations.
- Have basic computer skills, for both checking parts for jobs and diagnosing/repairing equipment in the field.
