Position: Composite Manufacturing Engineer

Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt
Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm recommended
Pay Range: $90,074/year - $135,112/year
Within this range, pay offered will be based on the candidate's skills, experience, education, and other qualifications. This position is eligible for a monthly cell phone stipend and an annual incentive program.

Position Summary:
The Composite Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and improves processes to obtain cost effective production while maintaining quality standards. The Composite Manufacturing Engineer also supports manufacturing planning in BoM / Routing / Work Instructions, as well as implementing engineering changes for continuous improvement of Wipaire products.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluates current manufacturing processes and implements process changes that improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining or improving quality.
- Develops manufacturing processes of composite components and final assemblies implementing well documented, cost-effective methods to manufacture a composite float.
- Recommends, specifies, and validates new equipment and tools.
- Prepares cost, utilization, efficiency, and other performance metric reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing shop floor data.
- Creates manufacturing process instructions; develops and conducts process validations.
- Participates in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, tooling and process requirements, rework methods, as well as corrective action processing to minimize future issues.
- Creates engineering change requests for continuous improvement and processes engineering change orders including shop floor disposition. Helps prioritize change requests to effectively utilize resources for best return on investment.
- Maintains compliance of all activities within the quality control system.
- Interprets various industry and government specifications and recommends courses of action in order to meet those specifications.
Education, Experience and Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering is .
- 3+ years of related work experience is highly .
- Epicor experience a plus.
- Six Sigma certification a plus but not required.
- CAD expérience a plus.
- Regulated industry and related compliance requirements background .
Knowledge, Skills and Abilitiese
- Expertise in the following areas is : Lean manufacturing consisting of: 5S, continuous improvement, cell design, plant layout, and mistake-proofing.
- Knowledge of composite materials along with processes/tools associated with composites.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage work in a fast-paced environment. Work without supervision and solve high level and detailed problems effectively.
- Work as an effective and proactive team player; exhibit flexibility and switch priorities in work duties while maintaining a positive attitude; understands the importance of supporting the organization, customers, and other employees.
- Able to meet FAA regulatory and safety requirements in all aspects of the work.
- Able to develop and give presentations to small groups inside and outside the organization.
- Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English , including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
- Apply manual dexterity for hand tools and power equipment use; good hand/eye coordination.
- Move around the plant area repeatedly throughout the day.
- Stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Use close vision to see small parts and review detailed information, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
