Commissioning Manager - Solar Analytics

Leads a diverse, multi-discipline team of contracted Commissioning Supervisors through the planning, execution and testing of new construction power plant commissioning within defined budgets, schedules and environmental targets. Directly interacts with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, OEM equipment suppliers, off-taker Utilities, regional transmission system operators, Nextera Plant Operations and staff organizations to develop a fully integrated commissioning plan and to manage issues as they arise. Through system turnover walkdowns and execution of Nextera's verification and Validation checks, assures a quality product meeting the project's performance objectives is accepted from the construction contractor(s) in the required sequence, tested and turned over to Nextera Operations. Job Description:

As a Commissioning Manager in Solar Analytics, you will work with one of the world's largest photovoltaic utility system developers. Your key responsibilities will include conducting performance analytics of PV power plant systems, such as inverters, trackers, substations, and control systems (SCADA). Additional roles involve ISO/GIA/PPA testing and coordinating energy forecasting during the startup of large PV systems. You will act as the Owner's representative, overseeing PV system compliance, status reporting, startup, commissioning, and testing. You will also manage and report on commissioning work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site.

Location:

This position involves occasional travel within the United States to project locations and to the NextEra Energy Resources headquarters in Juno Beach, Florida, with an estimated maximum travel up to 20%. Most of the work is primarily remote.

Required Background:

Education:

Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience involving utility solar power systems

Background:

Professional or graduate-level academic experience in utility PV systems

Prior experience with SCADA systems of industrial plants/processes

1-3 years of experience working with electrical grid participants such as Transmission Operators, Independent System Operators, and Balancing Authorities

Required Skill Sets:

Knowledge of utility-scale photovoltaic construction and commissioning

Familiarity with utility-scale photovoltaic components (PV modules, combiners, inverters, transformers, met stations, substations)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office / 365

Effective communication skills with third parties and executives

Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities

Job Responsibilities:

Prepare projects for PPA, GIA, and ISO testing

Manage test energy forecasts and AVR/AGC notifications with customers, the NextEra control center, and relevant external parties

Support IT & SCADA Teams with functional checks

Develop a commissioning schedule based on mechanical completion with SCADA Integrator and Execution Commissioning Project Manager

Verify SCADA HMI functionality and accuracy with SCADA Integrator and Commissioning Manager

Support CEWIS Critical Point Checkout with ROCC alarm checks/PGD

Review performance data for deficiencies

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to see to discern -coded HMI controls

Must be able to handle prolonged periods of screen time

Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle for commuting between work locations
