Overview
Energy Jobline is supporting a major international energy infrastructure programme and is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer – Electrical to support commissioning and start-up activities across complex energy facilities.
The role will focus on ensuring electrical systems are tested, verified, and safely transitioned from construction to operational status in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
The Role
Reporting to the Hook-up & Commissioning SPT, the Commissioning Engineer will support the planning and execution of commissioning activities for electrical and related systems within the project.
Working closely with construction teams, vendors, and operations personnel, the role ensures electrical equipment and systems are installed, tested, and commissioned safely and efficiently before final handover to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop commissioning procedures, test packs, and system completion documentation for electrical systems
- Review engineering deliverables including single-line diagrams, loop diagrams, and cause & effect documentation
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and vendor teams to prepare systems for commissioning
- Support commissioning of electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, generators, and UPS systems
- Monitor system energization and support completion of walkdowns and punch list clearance
- Ensure commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with permit-to-work, isolation, and safety procedures
- Participate in mechanical completion checks and pre-start-up safety reviews
- Verify documentation including calibration records, test certificates, and as-built drawings
- Support performance testing and stabilization of systems prior to operational handover
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues during commissioning phases
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of commissioning processes for electrical and control systems within energy or industrial facilities
- Experience interpreting engineering documentation including P&IDs, SLDs, loop diagrams, and control logic documentation
- Familiarity with commissioning management systems such as ICAPS, WinPCS, or similar platforms
- Experience coordinating commissioning activities across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and reporting skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years’ experience supporting commissioning activities within energy or industrial projects
- Experience working on large-scale oil & gas or infrastructure commissioning programmes
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
