Morning starts at Desmond Heating & Cooling Solutions with your truck stocked, tablet synced, and the day’s route across Delaware, Chester County, Philadelphia, and nearby areas ready to go. Your first stop is a café with a warm walk-in cooler; you diagnose, isolate a control issue, and restore temp. By noon, you’re installing a new condenser and controls at a market, aligning to manufacturer specs and local codes. Late afternoon brings an urgent call: a display case is down. You recover refrigerant, repair a leak, and charge the system to EPA standards—customers back in business.
About the role
This full-time position focuses on installation, service, and preventive maintenance for commercial refrigeration equipment. You’ll represent a locally owned team known for professionalism, reliability, and quality workmanship.
What you’ll tackle
- Troubleshoot and repair walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, ice machines, and chillers.
- Install refrigeration units, compressors, and controls per manufacturer specifications and local codes.
- Perform preventive maintenance to maximize reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Execute leak detection, refrigerant recovery, and precise system charging in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Service electrical and mechanical components associated with refrigeration systems.
- Respond quickly to emergency service calls and complete repairs efficiently.
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Document accurate service reports, refrigerant logs, and equipment records.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to clients, contractors, and supervisors.
What you bring
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- 5+ years of commercial refrigeration service and repair experience.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (required).
- Deep knowledge of walk-ins, freezers, ice machines, and supermarket systems.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and proficiency with refrigeration controls.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple daily service calls.
- Clear communication and customer service skills.
- OSHA certification .
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
