Leading rail main contracting company seeks a Commercial Manager with experience of working in the rail industry, for a outside IR35 contract opportunity in Birmingham. \n\nReporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you will provide essential commercial support throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery within time and budget constraints.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nManaging project work package change control, cost and budget management, and forecasting\nServing as the primary commercial interface for work package managers, and providing contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineers\nContributing to internal and external commercial reports as per the Commercial Delivery Strategy\nEnsuring compliance with company standards in all processes and document controls\nMaintaining auditable records in line with contractual requirements\nCollaborating with finance, project management, engineering teams, sub-contractors, suppliers, and clients\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nExperience in Quantity Surveying within a contractor-side project environment, ideally within rail, engineering, or construction industries\nDegree-qualified and/or holding or working towards a professional qualification (e.g., RICS, ICES)\nProficiency in handling direct labour and subcontract costs, estimating changes and variations, and forecasting costs\nStrong commercial acumen with good negotiation skills\nAbility to work independently under cost or time-critical conditions, managing expectations effectively\nConfidence in dealing with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally\nIf you are an experienced Commercial Manager looking for an excellent contract opportunity in the rail sector, we would love to hear from you.
