Job DescriptionThis employer is a real estate investment and property management organization focused on owning and operating high-quality office buildings. The facilities team plays a key role in protecting asset value and supporting a reliable, professional workplace for tenants and visitors. The environment is hands-on and service-driven, with an emphasis on safety, responsiveness, and preventative care. Technicians are expected to take pride in building appearance and performance, respond to daily maintenance needs, and contribute to ongoing projects that keep systems running efficiently across the portfolio.Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and complete corrective repairs to keep building systems safe and operational.
- Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures, including toilets, urinals, sinks, and automatic restroom dispensers/faucets/towel units; clear commercial clogs as needed.
- Safely isolate utilities (water, gas, electric) for service work and follow proper lockout/shutoff procedures.
- Support HVAC and mechanical upkeep, including identifying units by area/type and completing basic tasks such as exhaust fan belt changes.
- Complete basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs (switches, outlets, lighting/ballast bypass) and follow electrical room/panel safety standards.
- Assist with fire alarm system procedures, including placing systems on test and silencing alarms after confirming no hazard.
- Perform general building repairs (walls, ceilings, doors/hardware, card access systems) and support tenant requests/projects from start to finish.
- Follow all safety practices for ladders, tools, and roof access, including tie-off/harness use when required.
- Help execute scheduled PM programs and coordinate outside contractors when compliance or specialized service is needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical school training .
- 2–5 years of building or facilities maintenance experience, ideally in a commercial or office setting.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Professional communication and customer service mindset when supporting staff/visitors.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in varied environments (including roof access and confined spaces).
- Basic computer skills for maintenance logs, work orders, and email communication.
