Commercial HVAC Technician (Union)

About Us
Florida Mechanical is a union contractor with an in-house pipe fabrication shop. We deliver custom commercial and industrial HVAC projects and service for municipal, healthcare, education, and mission-critical clients across South Florida.
What You’ll Do
· Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC/R equipment (RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, cooling towers, pumps, VAVs, exhaust, controls).
- Perform preventive maintenance, startups/commissioning, and warranty work per manufacturer standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical and low-voltage control circuits; interpret schematics and submittals.
- Braze/pipe, evacuate, and charge systems; replace compressors, TXVs, coils, motors, and driers.
- Document findings, parts, and labor in service tickets; communicate clearly with dispatch and customers.
- Adhere to safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and OSHA/union requirements; maintain a clean work area.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as assigned.
What You Bring
· 3+ years of commercial HVAC service experience (union or comparable).
- EPA 608 Universal certification (required).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with meters, gauges, micron gauges, and recovery equipment.
- Ability to read plans, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations.
- Familiarity with BAS/BMS (Johnson Controls/Trane/Carrier/Siemens) is a plus.
- Reliable, professional, and safety-first mindset; able to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights.
Nice to Have
· OSHA 10/30, aerial lift, and fall protection certifications.
- Chilled water/boiler experience, VFDs, and pump alignment.
- IT room/critical environment (Liebert/Vertiv) experience.
- Experience with centrifugal chiller maintenance
- Familiar with Trane Morganizer Units

Schedule
· Monday–Friday, daytime hours + overtime as needed; on-call rotation.
