HVAC Estimator

Bay Area Mechanical is looking for a full-time Project Estimator to join our team!

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The responsibilities and requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Additional job duties may also be assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Evaluate project documents and collaborate with clients to define scope, schedules, and project budgets.

• Participate in site visits and job walks to gather pertinent information for quoting purposes.

• Using online platforms (Cal eProcure, BidNet, and ConstructConnect), candidates will complete the requested bids on time.

• Assist with preparing proposals and participating in project interviews and presentations.

• Maintain and update cost databases using historical pricing models to improve accuracy.

• Responsible for providing timely and accurate cost estimates of labor and materials for new construction, tenant improvement, or maintenance projects.

• Responsible for the accuracy of all components of the estimating workbook spreadsheets, including verifying that correct labor hours are assigned to the proper tasks, labor rates are accurate, internal cost allocations, assumptions, material, transportation, and other services not performed by the company.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

• 2-5 years of field experience in the HVAC industry

• 7+ years of experience in HVAC estimating for medium to large projects

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, codes, and industry standards

• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, with a keen eye for detail and ability to identify potential issues

• Experience with estimating software and tools (e.g., Trimble, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, MS Excel), with a proven track record of proficiency and productivity

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members
