Role Overview

We are seeking a Commercial Excellence Manager who embodies the principles of high-impact sales leadership, someone who can coach, lead, and build a performance-driven sales culture. This individual will manage a team of two sales representatives and will be responsible for hiring at least two additional team members within the next year.

While the primary focus of this role is team leadership and development, the Commercial Excellence Manager will also engage in select direct sales activities, primarily to support strategic account development, model best practices, and accelerate team learning. Approximately 25% of the role will involve direct selling, with an emphasis on coaching through action rather than individual quota fulfillment.

The role may be remote, with the expectation of being on-site at headquarters approximately 30% of the time to maintain alignment with executive leadership and cross-functional teams. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving profitable revenue growth, improving sales effectiveness, and building a scalable sales organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the current sales team, setting clear performance expectations and coaching for results. Recruit, onboard, and develop at least two new sales representatives within the first year.
  • Establish consistent sales methodologies and playbooks to ensure repeatable success. Implement sales processes and performance metrics aligned with company growth goals.
  • Drive pipeline development and ensure disciplined execution of sales activities.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize sales enablement technologies including CRM, sales analytics, and pipeline management tools to drive team efficiency and performance visibility.
  • Personally engage in direct sales activities, including strategic account development, lead , and closing high-value deals.
  • Report directly to the CEO and work closely with PE sponsors on growth initiatives. Collaborate with marketing and product teams to align go-to-market strategies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree .
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of sales experience in B2B manufacturing, preferably in aftermarket parts or industrial equipment.
    • 2+ years in a sales leadership or management role.
    • Experience in food processing, protein, or related industries is a strong plus.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Experience managing through a business transformation or rapid growth phase.
      • Track record of successfully implementing sales processes in organizations with limited structure.
      • Ability to balance tactical execution with strategic planning in a resource-constrained environment
    • Proven ability to hire, coach, and develop high-performing sales teams.
    • Strong understanding of sales process design, pipeline management, and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Data-driven mindset with ability to use metrics to drive performance.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment with high accountability.
    • Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with direct sales execution.
