Sargon is a family-owned company specializing in masonry, stone and steel construction. Sargon Masonry Construction is a full-service land development and commercial masonry contractor specializing in perimeter fencing, retaining walls, masonry structures, entry monuments, footings and many other various design-build retaining wall systems.
The Estimator role will identify, estimate and manage assigned projects and clients. As an Estimator, your role is to plan, budget, and document all aspects of the specific project(s) you are working on. The Estimator will work closely with the Project Manager and Estimating team to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is accurate and priced appropriately. Estimator will report directly to the Vice President of Construction.
Primary Scope Responsible For:
- Read and understand bid scope, specifications, blueprints, and other documents to determine construction requirements as they relate to establishing job costs for client proposals.
- Properly perform takeoff measurements to generate wall installation and stone installation cost per project.
- Prepare detailed estimates by accurately determining labor, material and equipment costs for prospective projects.
- Draft and submit clear and detailed proposals to the client.
- Obtain competitive quotes from vendors/subcontractors.
- Work with clients on their invitations to bid, bid schedule, change orders, and overall project related requests up and until a signed contract and operations handoff is made.
- Communicate and follow-up with clients during bid time.
- Understands the process of masonry wall installation and stone installation.
- Understands current market conditions and trends.
- Proactively work with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or subcontractors to resolve issues at or before bid due date.
- Estimate the scope of work according to Sargon standards and industry expectations.
- Manage price increase notifications from all relevant suppliers monthly. Ensure proper for these are within our inclusions or exclusions of the bid template as they need to be modified.
- Work with Client, Project Manager and Superintendents on project handoffs and client expectations.
- Provide Master Project Budget to accounting team members after the project is awarded.
- Work with Project Manager, Project Coordinator & Superintendent on project questions as they arise.
- Identify opportunities to save money or value engineer the project to benefit the Client.
- Update all reporting and tracking requirements for all projects estimated.
- Initiate post construction Close-Out review meeting on all projects.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with all customers, clients, trade partners & subcontractors.
To Be Successful at This Role, You Will Need:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction estimating experience in various general building markets; Masonry Estimating experience highly .
- A degree in construction management, engineering or a related field is ideal, but we are willing to consider experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must be confident leading estimates of varying sizes and delivery methods (competitive bid, conceptual, design-build, and negotiated). Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles. General familiarity of unit pricing for scope of work.
- Strong sales and customer service experience required.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, strong math and plan reading skills, ability to deliver high-quality, time-sensitive work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors. Commitment to communicate with all members of the Sargon Team. Confidence to participate in team meetings, submit proposals, and represent the Sargon core values in all duties.
- Work product and soft skills must reflect a high degree of professionalism and seamless ability to communicate between field crew members and client executives.
- Must have integrity and the ability to discuss issues openly and honestly with your team and clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications required; high proficiency in Stack Estimating or Tradesmens software required. Experience with Viewpoint (or similar) accounting software .
- Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels throughout the organization.
- Proven problem solver, solution-oriented mindset when tackling difficult situations.

This is a full-time role with annual compensation and a performance-based bonus structure, depending on candidates qualifications.
