CNC Process Development Engineer (CAM Programming) in Cheswick
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCNC Process Development Engineer (CAM Programming)
What if your programming choices could cut hours from a build and elevate quality in one move? At our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) site, you’ll turn design intent into robust, scalable CNC processes that keep complex projects on schedule and on spec.
Your Mission
Start with a design review: you’ll collaborate with engineering on product releases, scrutinizing drawings for manufacturability and clarity. Then you’ll architect machining strategies, select tooling, and generate NC code—primarily in Mastercam, with Siemens NX as a plus. Along the way, you’ll study labor standards, product flow, and resource needs to raise productivity and reduce unit cost. You’ll also help evaluate engineering changes and maintain tight configuration control and security for NC files per EMD procedures.
How You’ll Collaborate
- Serve as a technical liaison across program management, finance, design, quality, procurement, inspection, and production.
- Contribute to decisions on new NC machine tools and build/maintain CAM tooling libraries.
- Coach operator-programmers so best practices become the norm, not the exception.
Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years in manufacturing (e.g., machining, welding/fab, assembly, electrical, or plastics).
- 5+ years generating NC programs using CAM software (Mastercam required or equivalent); Siemens NX proficiency is advantageous.
- Expert blueprint literacy with GD&T to ASME Y14.5M.
- Experience with commercial nuclear and/or military quality systems.
- Comfort with MS Word and Excel; 3D solid modeling familiarity is a plus.
- Capability to secure and maintain the clearances needed for DoD-related work.
