Job Description
Manager, Cloud Engineering
Dallas, TX - onsite 5 days per week
$200,000 to $225,000 base salary + bonus + equity
The Company
We're working with a globally recognised technology and engineering business — one of the most established names in their sector — that is in the middle of a significant cloud transformation programme.
With tens of thousands of employees worldwide and operations spanning the US, India, and beyond, this is an organisation with real scale, long-term stability, and serious engineering ambition. This is not a start-up. This is a business with the resources, the infrastructure footprint, and the strategic intent to build something genuinely world-class — and they're looking for the right person to help lead that.
The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to join a large-scale cloud engineering programme at the ground floor and genuinely shape how it is built. The organisation has an existing AWS and GCP environment, and the next step is bringing in a strong engineering leader to assess what's there, put the right structure and governance around it, and build a best-practice cloud platform from the ground up.
Once that foundation is in place, the focus shifts to building seamless connectivity between public and private cloud — enabling workloads to move freely and securely between environments.
You will lead a cloud engineering team, own the architecture and delivery of the public cloud estate, and work in close partnership with the broader infrastructure organisation. This is a building role — if you want to inherit something fully formed, this probably isn't for you. If you want to leave your fingerprints on something significant, it is.
What You'll Be Doing
- Auditing the existing AWS and GCP environment and defining a structured, best-practice architecture
- Implementing governance, access controls, and operational standards across the public cloud estate
- Building, leading, and developing a high-performing cloud engineering team
- Driving Infrastructure as Code across all provisioning and configuration — Terraform, Ansible, Python
- Partnering with private cloud teams to enable seamless workload mobility between environments
- Owning reliability, incident management, FinOps, and cost optimisation
- Acting as the go-to AWS/GCP architecture expert for the wider engineering organisation
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years in cloud, infrastructure, or platform engineering
- 3+ years leading engineering teams — or a strong tech lead ready to make that step
- Deep hands-on expertise across AWS, with solid GCP experience alongside
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience
- Proven experience designing and operating hybrid cloud environments
- Solid understanding of networking, security, , and distributed systems
- Someone who has genuinely built cloud environments from scratch — not just managed what others created
Bonus points for:
- AWS Architect Professional certification
- Kubernetes, Docker, EKS or GKE experience
- DevOps or SRE background
- Exposure to GPU or AI/ML workloads
Why This Role
- High ownership from day one — you will shape the architecture, the team, and the culture
- A genuine build opportunity within a stable, well-resourced global business
- Strong career trajectory — this role sits within a broader cloud leadership structure with room to grow
- Collaborative engineering culture with serious technical ambition
