Cloud Architect

Seeking a Cloud Architect supporting the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Rapid ATO Program. The role provides cloud architecture expertise across AWS environments supporting FedRAMP, DOJ cybersecurity standards, and BOP system security requirements. The Cloud Architect will design secure cloud solutions, continuous monitoring strategies, and compliance automation capabilities.

Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust/Suitability and to meet DOJ requirements.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 10 years of experience architecting cloud and cloud‐security solutions for U.S. federal systems.

Experience in AWS networking including Direct Connect, AWS firewalls, Outposts, VPC segmentation, and reverse proxies.

Experience designing cloud Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) processes.

Experience with SIEM tools such as Splunk and AWS security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector).

Skills and Competencies:

Strong knowledge of FedRAMP control expectations and NIST SP 800‐53 requirements.

Ability to design secure cloud architectures with end‐to‐end encryption.

Experience developing AI‐enabled or automated compliance and reporting tools.

Ability to identify and analyze cloud vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.

Strong communication skills and ability to operate across security, engineering, and compliance teams.

Responsibilities:

Design secure AWS architectures consistent with federal and DOJ requirements.

Implement continuous monitoring strategies and automated assessment pipelines.

Analyze SIEM and cloud‐security feeds to identify risk and support remediation.

Support FedRAMP‐aligned documentation and inheritance models.

Define encryption, segmentation, and tamper‐protection patterns for cloud workloads.
