Job Description:

The Cloud Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based solutions to meet the organization's needs. This role involves strategic planning, architectural design, and leading the migration of services to the cloud. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the cloud infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.

Requirements:

  • U.S Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • This position is remote but may require occasional onsite meetings in McLean, VA.
  • You can be based out of following states: AZ, DC, FL, GA, OH, ME, MD, SC, TX, UT, VA, NC, OK, WV.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and best practices.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Knowledge of networking, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery concepts in the cloud.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Experience in a government contracting environment.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

Cloud Strategy and Design:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
  • Design scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures using cloud service platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Ensure cloud solutions meet security and compliance requirements, including FedRAMP, FISMA, and HIPAA.

Implementation and Migration:

  • Lead the migration of on-premises systems and applications to cloud environments.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements for cloud migrations and new cloud initiatives.

Architecture and Infrastructure Management:

  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure that supports high availability, failover, and disaster recovery.
  • Optimize cloud resources for performance and cost-efficiency.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement security controls and best practices to safeguard data and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices.
  • Evaluate and implement new cloud services and tools to improve infrastructure and meet evolving needs.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and deployment of cloud solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and stakeholders.

Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Implement monitoring tools to track cloud infrastructure performance and health.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure it meets performance and cost objectives.

Documentation and Best Practices:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Promote adherence to best practices in cloud architecture and operations.
