Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Job DescriptionJob Description

Perform high complexity testing and analysis and be responsible for specimen processing, test performance and test reporting, performing all duties in accordance with laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintenance of records. Maintain records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens and adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and instrument maintenance. Follow laboratory’s policies whenever test systems are not within established acceptable level of performance. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify the appropriate supervisor. Responsible for documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from laboratory’s established performance specification. Participate in regular training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of testing performed including reading professional journals or other publications and/or attending webinars or conferences.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in medical/clinical science and must have passed a board exam offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and be certified by the ASCP or AMT.
